No solo cambias tu cuerpo, tambien te cambias a vos mismo. Cuerpo y subjetividad entre un grupo de entrenados de los gimnasios porteños a principios del siglo XXI

In the last three decades, both training gyms as people approach them to start training multiplied exponentially in the city of Buenos Aires. Studying why is the overall question of this thesis. In particular, I am interested interpret why people have begun to consider in recent decades that we must begin to train in a set of body techniques in the gym. In theoretical terms and to account for this empirical phenomenon, I propose to analyze what is the link between the body who trains at the gym with a process of construction of personal subjectivity. The most visible argument explaining why people come to the gym to train today is seeking to achieve better health. While this argument has a lot of truth, does not cover a more complex phenomenon, as people who come to the gym end up achieving better health but also shaping your body and a type of person they consider desirable. In the gym, people seek transformed: first aim away from those who do not want to be, while the other looking to build on those who yearn to achieve. This entire operation is carried out on the body; it is a long process that takes subjectivity but also from him. To analyze the link between body and subjectivity that is created in the gym ethnographic rebuilt the "trained career" is a long road that runs from the moment the person up as a neophyte to the place until they finally becomes a trained fitness. Becoming a trained implies first of all accumulate longer work in training, but second learn to take charge of this new self even outside the gym: the trained add diets, measure the daily rest depending on the new needs of the body, sociability restructure so as not to affect the progress of the race. In the most extreme case, there will be other than the prohibition of certain practices, people or objects option. As the race progresses trained risks also begin to appear. Extreme dieting, overtraining or steroids are aspects that become current for a trained already wishing for the road, but that at the beginning of the race were not collected. Trying to understand why people come to the gym taking into account not only allows healthy explanation to account for why some of them along the race trained, adopt guidelines that deviate from that same pattern that apparently explained why they had arrived at the gym. These diverted, however, behaviors are well apprehended if a perspective that explores the relationship between body and subjectivity and pay attention to the new way the trained begin to see your body and your sense of self is adopted after having traveled all a race trained. Ultimately, the key analysis that I propose seeks to place the discussion on a broader level and seeks to explain how body and secured around workout in the gym are intertwined, but with special attention to develop a long-term career there as explanatory empirical phenomenon.
